Instructional Design

The goal of this project was to research, plan, and design an online instructional module using the Canvas learning management system.

Needs Assessment Proposal

This needs assessment and one-page proposal was created for the self-guided interactive module. The project is aimed at SMAD 203 students at James Madison University who want to learn how to become more workplace-ready.

Data Collection

This document was used to structure an interview with the client, Dr. Chen Guo, and to create a survey to be sent out to previous SMAD 203 students in order to gain information and feedback about the existing course.

Learner Profile & Chart

This document summarizes the typical characteristics of students who will be completing the module.

Client Report

This client report provides an in-depth summary, background information, data analysis, and more regarding the development of the module.

Final Module

This is the final E-Portfolio Instructional Module on Canvas. In the module, students can learn about e-portfolio creation, including:

  • What an e-portfolio is

  • How to create an e-portfolio using WordPress

  • Best practices for e-portfolio creation

  • How to write a bio

  • And more

After completing the module, students will also take a short quiz to ensure their understanding of the content. In the intended setting, the module would also lead into the existing SMAD 203 final portfolio project.

This module was reviewed by LTLE 385 professor Parama Chaudhuri and the department head, Dr. Jim Bywater.
